Question Ricoh Aficio 2022 scanner – Win 2008 Server R2

    Ricoh Aficio 2022 scanner – Win 2008 Server R2

I’d appreciate if someone could advise on how to get the Ricoh Aficio 2022 to use the scan function with Windows Server 2008 R2. I’d like to scan to a folder on the server.
I was told that due to certificate issues the scanner cannot communicate via SMB with Windows Server 2008 R2.

Could someone please advise on the most appropriate way to setup the copier to scan docs to a folder that is located on the server. I do not want to utilise ‘Scan to email’, or FTP if possible.

    Many thanks.

The 2022 does not have a Samba version compatible with NTLMv2 or the newer iteration of Microsoft's SMB protocol. You will not be able to scan to the server, but you may be able to set up an XP machine, or a virtual XP box on the server that you can hit.

I don't know if this is compatible with Server 2008 or not (probably not), but maybe look into Scan Router. It was designed for those older machines to scan to folders on a server, and then have those folders shared out to specific users. Create users in Scan Router software, set up each user with there own folder. Then within the Scanner option on the copier you will see buttons for each user you created, select the user and scan. The files show up in the users folder on the server.

We use this in our office on our antiquated Aficio 1027 using Server 2003. Like I said, not sure of the compatability with 2008, especially if it's 64-bit, but look into it, you might get lucky.

Another scan to folder option would be 'scan to FTP' which is supported natively.

    Thanks for the replies guys.
I may have to resort to 'scan to FTP'.

Can you 'scan to FTP' - to the server locally on Win 2008 R2?

    Thanks

Yes, provided IIS is installed and FTP configured. but that's down to the server administrator.
(The Aficio 2022 doesn't support sftp.)

Only Ricoh machines from the 3000 series and up will support NTLMv2. Pretty much the rule of thumb is if the web interface uses password as the password then it won't support NTLMv2.

Or disable NTLMv2 on the server and proceed as normal? (And don't let the IT guys catch you )
