    Aficio 270 w/ Scanner Type270 same as is300e TWAIN

Is it possible to utilize the current is300e scanner software XP with the Af 270 Scanner option? No install disks avail and have been searching with no luck
so far. Any assist would be greatly appreciated.

I wonder if the Scanner Option Type270 used with the Aficio 270 has been used for the IS300e which appears to have the same hardware? Since this unit was taken in without any disks, I have been trying to determine how to proceed to install the Type270 scanner option. If the IS300e is the same scanner/feeder unit as the Type270 (without the mainframe copier of the Aficio 270), will the IS300e drivers/software install be better than simply installing the TWAIN 270 driver which is available on the Richoh.de support site?

After reading your latest reply, I must admit I'm a bit confused. What exactly are you trying to do? The TWAIN driver is just going to get the scanner talking to an application. If there is a scanning utility included with the IS300e, and it is TWAIN-compliant, then you could use that to scan from the 270 and TWAIN driver using whatever features are supported within the app.

Even if the IS300e and Aficio 270 use the same hardware for the scanner, they are not the same to a driver. Each would have a unique hardware signature to the TWAIN driver and, unless the TWAIN driver was written for both, they are not interchangeable. Since the file sizes and timestamp for these two TWAIN drivers is different, I would venture a guess that the two are not compatible.
