    MPC 3500 problem

Getting a message on the bottom left corner of the display that says netbios is in use with another machine, contact administrator.

Their IT guy has been working with me on this issue but with no luck. I have gone into user tools and changed every single computer name in there including smb computer name and nothing has made the message go away. Even went into web image moniter with no luck. Any ideas?

Does the Administrator have a WINS server? If they do confirm that the WINS servers in the MFP are to valid servers and make sure there are not stale records in the WINS server refering to another device with the same name.

IF that isn't it then the administartor is going to have to run wireshark, filter for netbios packets with that comptuer name in it. Match the MAC Address and hopefully it will relate to something in the DHCP server addresses that have been given out.

Thanks for the reply and good idea! I was able to get this resolved Friday. It was under the securites tab in web image moniter for some reason. Kind of buried in there but I disabled it and message went away. Thing is you have to do this for every single machine. Seen this message 3 more times now.

Looks like Windows did an automatic update that has triggered this so be aware!

Hmmm, I saw this once I tried renaming the machine name but the error was still showing up. I just disabled WINS that took care of the problem. everything was working fine though.

Im going to check that out if it happens again.

    Thanks
