    DF 3010 Feed Roller Teeth

I have a machine in which the DF feed tire won't spin intermittently. I see the teeth that are supposed to mesh do not, from time to time.

They only mesh in one direction.

Had that issue on a MP 5000 ADF. Drove me nuts at first. Clean the pickup roller shaft. If it gets dirty or gummy the tire hub won't move smoothly on the shaft to engage or disengage the drive teeth. Either that or a clip is not installed properly. And you mean to say the Pickup roller not the feed roller. That's the one with the teeth that engage/disengage, not the feed roller. Hope that helps you.

Had this too before...I flip the white circlip I marked around so the flat piece of the circlips pushes the roller to the right (towards the gears) and problem solved. For some or other reason there is too much play on some of these.

I've had similar where the P/U roller free-wheels across the top of gear teeth (see red circle).
I've place a thin packing washer in behind the e-clip on the P/U roller (see white circle) so the P/U roller gear teeth engage properly.

I usually add a few drops of superglue to the teeth.

Your feed belt looks a bit work, shiney looking.

I think I like this one best. It fits all my criterion:
    1) It provides the desired effect.
    2) It's reversible if it must be un-done.
    3) It follows the KISS principal, simplest solution.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    I Agree...
    but WHY suggest superglue?

that seems to defeat the " It's reversible if it must be un-done. " (no parts replacement)
yes it does " It provides the desired effect. " again ...how does superglue? " (yes aware it was NOT your suggestion)

Correct Again! " It follows the KISS principal, simplest solution. (WHO doesn't squirrel away screws-bushings-gears?)

Frankly The suggestions from: blazebusiness - 8T2 - NeoMatrix
    ALL made valid points IMHO

The truth of the matter is that the only time that roller is supposed to be driven by the gear in the forward direction is during paper pickup. The design is so that the roller does not keep trying to feed the paper once the feed belt has it. It servers the same as a one way bearing but you don't have to have gear driven shaft.
