    Ricoh CL7200 magenta offset

I have a g130 7200 printer that I am getting serious offset on. I am printing a spreadsheet that has 2 bright red rows from lead to trail edge on it. It is offsetting onto the white areas and double imaging. I have replaced both the magenta PCU and development unit. I changed the fill color on the rows to a bright blue and it works fine. It does not like magenta at all. There are no process control errors, and it passes line adjustment. I have also tried a new fuser. It made no difference. I have tried every print setup combination I can think of, no effect. I am absolutely stumped on this one. Has anybody ran into anything like this?

Does it just do it on this one file or is it on everything? If just the file, try a 'Save As' file save and see if it keeps doing the same thing. It may be something wonky in the file?
Also check the transfer belt for anything funny...

It does it on any file that has a lot of magenta on it. I swapped the transfer unit with a known good unit, no effect. I disabled process control and increased magenta charge bias by 30 units, and that helped a lot, althogh it will stll offset some on 2 out of a run of 20.

If the trasnfer belt doesn't solve the problem, then you're probably going to have to do a manual laser calibration. It's the same procedure for the most part as listed in TSB 32 for the copier version LD335c. You may also want to try firmware just for giggles. Also, have you cleaned the slit glass for the M laser using the 'toothbrush'?

Are you using aftermarket toner? Non OEM toner will really screw up your copy quality. On Ricoh color products I would not recommend anything but OEM toner. Been there. Tried that. Never worked.

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

ALL consumables in the machine are OEM.

have you tried to set the paper type to "middle thick" or "thick"? this may be helpful in some enviroments even if paper appears to be standard stuff.

Depending on the space between the offset you should figure out what unit is responsible for this issue.

I did try that, also. It had an effect on the copy quality, but not on the offset problem.

The problem has been fixed. It was a failure with a BRAND NEW oem development unit. Unusual.
