Smile Question about a Lanier 5635

I resently acquired a used lanier 5635with a duplex unit installed. When I recieved it it had an error code, which I later found out was a hard drive error. I disconnected the hard drive, the unit works just fine now. My question is what do I need to do replace that drive, its a Maxtor 20gb, i.e. anything special or do I just format it FAT32 and slap it in.

Also would like any info about this unit. I am presently useing it as a personnal printer/copier/scanner, but would like to install the fax option, if I can find one. Also where can I find parts for it, the document feeder needs the rollers replaced, because it will not feed any pages. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

P.S. I am familiar with working with HP printers, this is my first MFP.

Slap it in and format it in the machine.
What if the hokey pokey IS what it's all about?

Thanks, any idea where I can find a service manual for this unit?

Try here for manuals. He supports the site and is an active member.

For rubber rollers try Katun or google for others.

Thanks, I will check it out. I'm new to copiers and to Lanier, how hard are they to work on. I have worked on mostly HP printers. Thanks again for the link.

It's just a re badged Ricoh. IMO they are easy to work on. If you are mechanically inclined and understand the basic copy process, you will be fine.

Thanks guys for all the info. This unit was never really cared for anyway.
