Aficio 270 - light copies

Is there a service mode setting to darken the copies. Can someone tell me how to get into service mode for this machine. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am a Canon tech with no previous exposure to this product and am trying to help out a friend with light copies and a line through the copies.

Clear modes>1>0>7 press and hold stop.Run sp 5-990-004.Should tell you the number of copies on the pcu.If close to or over 60k then time for a pcu.
