    mp 5000 fax

    hi all..i got 3 units of FCU that cannot be use,it's always show 'using handset' message when i put in the fax line..what is the problem?is there any setting that could settle this error?or is it a hardware error?when i replace with another set of FCU then only the machine can use fax option..
    tq in advance..

    Try putting the Cable in the right socket ya know the one marked LINE.

    Only use the two middle wires on the connector. Make sure you use an RJ11-connector.

    the cable was in the right socket,LINE,the thing is,i have replaced with other FCU,and it work properly..so it is confirmed that FCU is spoilt,is there any setting that i could try?or just throw the broken FCU into the dustbin??btw,tq for the reply..

    As a last resort you can put the defective unit in a machine and reset the unit in SP5-801. Did you also set the jumper on the FCU to ON?

    The "using handset" message for me has usually meant the machine is plugged into a bad phone line. Or if the fax cable is plugged it into a surge suppressor or line conditioner they could be bad. Get a telephone handset and plug it into where the cable from the machine plugs into. If you don't hear a clean dial tone from the handset, it is most likely the phone company's fault, or the line conditioner or surge suppressor might have has failed.

    it is confirmed that FCU is spoilt,replaced it and the machine works fine..thanks for all the replies....
