Bantams is right. Just unplug the HDD and power on the copier. It will probably go ready. If so power down and plug in the HDD, power on the copier. As Bantams stated, reformat the HDD. Keep in mind you will loose the address book when you reformat, so back it up before doing it. If you end up having to replace the HDD, you can leave it unplugged until you return with one. You loose some functionality, but they will not be completely down. By the way, this is common with Ricohs. By the way, Born in Verdun. Good luck.

I thought all MP4000B come with a HDD, it is the extra memory that is an optional extra needed if the enhanced print option is installed. HDD is standard I am sure.

I thought so too, but I've just looked it up, it is standard with the MP4000, but an option on the MP4000B

Oh i stand corrected, Good spot Debs. I am surprised by that. Had a "please wait on an MP2550 russian C5 which ended up being the display control board but only had it on an MP4000B when HDD or control board failed. I have a shed load of these in our biggest customer as well so will be interested if a solution is found.
