    Richo Aficio 240W complet configuration

    Hi all,
I have bought the old used Ricoh Aficio 240W and have trying to get it working. First I thought it is possible to connect this printer direct to a computer, install driver and print. I am not sure if this is even possible. I have read the manual and realized that this printer work in client-server environment. I need a server computer wit special software and client computer that connects the server and set a print job there. I am a bit lost. I cannot get it working.

Could anyone of you give me step-by-step instruction how to get this machine working?
Is it possible to use it as a printer direct connected to a computer? How?

    Thank you in advance,
    sznury

Re: Richo Aficio 240W complet configuration

    You need...

    • A PC with a spare PCI slot running Windows XP.
    • The 240W PCI controller card.
    • The cable that connects the 240W PCI controller card to the 240W.
    • The Plotbase software.
    • A valid .rsp license file.

If you have all of those items you might be able to get it printing.

Hi Cipher, many thanks for this quick answer!

    What I don't have is:
    • the Plotbase software
    • a valid .rsp license file

What is this .rps license file for? Do I have to buy it? Where?
What about the Plotbase software? It seems I need to buy it as well. Is there any alternativ software?

    Regards,
    sznury

If you print via plotbase without a valid license file you will get a nice large watermark on the prints.
Plus you may need a separate license files to enable the scantool and PS3/PDF options if memory serves me right.

I would try contacting Ricoh support with the model and serial number off the controller card.
They may still be able to supply you with the plotbase software and a .rsp file free of charge.

Or you could try contacting RATIO directly, but they will likely charge.

OBTW the pci card needs to be the one that was set up with that printer as it is "married" to the controller in the machine.

The good thing is that I have bought the printer with the "married" card. I have contacted Ricoh Support and wait for the answer.
Do you know which version of the Plotbase is right for my printer?

You would be able to use Windows 7 Pro (x86) as your print server OS if you are lucky enough to get hold of either v3.7.4 or v3.8.
