    MP C3002 SC 899

I posted a little while back about my MP C3002 getting a SC899 code, and i was told to update the firmware and at first that seemed to work but then it came back. I have since then put in a brand new hard drive and i am still gettin the 899 code. Any ideas why i am getting that?

This is a common fault on this series.

If you delete the job in the print queue, reboot the machine that should fix it.

You'll probably find a user was printing a web page this is the usual cause, advice the customer to try another browser.

Thank you for the advice but that didn't seem to be the problem

    Re: MP C3002 SC 899

First thing is disconnect it from the network and reboot the machine. If it comes up, it is a print job issue. If it still comes up SC899, try a controller. (Had one person have this as an issue once).

If it comes up, need to get the entire print que cleared. The firmware will help with the frequency of the SC899 codes, but it is not a 100% fix.

A little customer training is required to hopefully take care of this issue and it has taken care of every case I have had with my customers.

First, if the web page you are trying to print has a "print this" or "print this page" button on it, use it.

In the case of no "print this page" button, do file, print preview and then print it out of there. (IE is the main culprit to most of these issues). If the customer asks "why", you are eliminating/reducing the scripting on the web page (especially of things that are "in motion") that confuses the print job. Ricoh is not the only one with this issue as HP has the same thing happen.

disconnect the Ethernet cable and turn on the machine. if it comes to ready then me myself I would say the machine is fine. If however you plug the cable back in and the data pings in causing sc899 then its a file issue - but I suspect you would already know that.

Ive spoken to ricoh tech before and the reasons given are corrupted file, customer closing the program down so the whole file doesn't have chance to get sent, printing direct from websites, fonts or firmware.

firmware - If you haven't loaded it all up then the minimum is engine, pcl, network support and system/copy according to ricoh tech but they do say load all of it now.

    hope that helps

Okay I will try to get a print out of my current firmware version.

In the meantime I replaced the controller board with another one, and I now have an SC995 code. So I switched the controller board back with the original one and the 995 code is still there. I don't know if the 899 code is gone or if the 995 code is covering up the other one.

My bet is that yiu did not swap the NVram between controller boards. Put the original controller back in and update the firmware.

If You can't find or delete the print job:

    1. Turn of machine

    2. Unplug network

    3. Power machine back on

    4. Add user authentication (user code) for all print.

    5. Plug in Network cable

    6. Reboot machine

    7. Wait until all jobs are received and deleted (no more data flashing - LED)

    8. Remove the user authentication (user code) for all print.

And remember alway to update to newest FW version.

    Done... aren't we happy
