Question Samsung SCX 6545 (MFX4555) Hard drive

I started cloning all the hard drives in my used equipment before I resell it. I never run into a firmware problem that way. I know it is necessary on my Canon's and Toshiba's to have an exact copy or you can run into all kinds of issues. Is this machine the same. Is firmware loaded on the hard drive, or is it simply a storage device? I won't bother cloning them if it isn't necessary. Does anyone know? If the hard drive crashes, what can be expected?

Re: Samsung SCX 6545 (MFX4555) Hard drive

    Afternoon,

No. Short answer. These can be used with or without a harddrive, so its just for storage and address' if anything at all. Bit of a waste of 120gb

    Edit:
Also, if the HDD crashes, itll throw a Java error asking for a reboot. Will work for a few minutes upon powering up, the same again.

Mostly, you can format the HDD and it's good as new. Also worth noting that the HDD's are partitioned into four. The machine will do this automatically to a fresh HDD.

just had one crash the hdd, it does not effect firmware but you loose addresses set up for scanning.(and you can still use it providing the machine isn't down because of the hdd failure)

Thanks for the info. So as a copier its not affected at all.
    Other than clearing the error.

Operating system not on hard drive. You can run 1 copy at a time with hard drive removed. Just get a similar hdd, format it NTFS and stick it in the machine. Thats it
