I just had a similar problem. There may be a broken gear on the back of the developing unit or the stirring rod inside of developing unit might be broken

We need to know what he's done so far. There's wires, the developer cylinder, possible bad toner, clean out dv unit and start fresh, transfer belt, dirty optics, etc. Tell him to post.
I’ve had a few go light early.

I missed the different model part. Even if you have the same model machine the small boards need to stay with the original machine
The 2 little boards on the main controller need to stay with the machine. Put the original counter and serial number pcb back with the original machine.
I have found they don’t work well. Nationwide in Kansas sells the film assembly or the whole assembly. Reasonable price

Service mode/counter/LF

Not sure on that model. Don’t have finishers in the field. Thought it might be similar to the 1730 which had a drive assembly inside the rear cover. Try to look up the code to see if it says anything...
It may be similar to the 1730 and 400 finishers where a drive gear in the back cracks. Look closely.

Low count considering it’s not very new. I would put new wires on the primary especially if it’s little black dots.

Did you check the de offset in adjust mode in case something set it high? should be at about Zero. Also hvt on inside back wall
OMG I think that’s it. It’s all coming back to me now. Thanks. Just another one of my senior moments.
Should be FE8-5335-000
I found the solution to this a while back and can't remember it. When I put an original on the glass and hit start, it scans it and then gives me the option to scan more, cancel or start copying. I...
The passwords are probably administrator and 7-6-5-4-3-2-1

You can’t turn that off.

I believe that code would be a stationary jam in the fuser. The grease on the heat element could be dried up and cause hesitation. That takes a special grease. If you have a fuser unit to swap that...
You should check all the flag areas for old rubber dampers that can stick. Also the solenoids in the paper feed units especially on the older machines

What’s the jam code

What about DV unit? If the drum is generic that could be a problem too. I’m not a fan of generic in color copiers especially toner.
One bad toner and you can ruin the DV unit.

I just had this happen again a couple days ago. I have found with that model if it jams and there’s paper on the transfer belt when the user slides out the transport section the paper gets pulled...
What have you done so far?

Service mode should give you ideas on what to replace. You should also check the connectors for paper on the transport side and in the rear of the machine by the frame where the transport engages.
Make sure there’s no scrunched up paper in the drawer connectors

It could be a number of things but start by reseating the connectors on the duplex driver pcb behind the front cover of the transport unit. Go into service mode under error and it will give you other...
