So am I correct that in fact it is not re-writing the data, just informing that the "update was done" basically? It seems too fast to be doing anything.
I'm thinking of this in terms of...
I've use a 1gb SD (Panasonic format, etc.) romdata with it all and try to update one by one. It almost instantly says Update Done, so I assume it's done nothing since it is the same version. I've...
I know this is really old, but... the trick is that the image must be less than 15kb ON THE DISK. If you resize it at 15kb, the actual space consumed on the disk might be 17kb and it won't work. You...
OK look the thing is I cleaned it with a cloth and a prep pad before posting. So, to my mind, tried and failed. I also ran my finger down it (didn't feel anything stuck), examined the slit glass...
It was indeed something on the slit glass. No idea what, but it took three prep pads and some scrubbing to remove. Whatever it was, it was essentially transparent to the naked eye, but was causing...
I was needlessly accused of lacking basic intelligence and common sense. If anything, an apology is owed to me.
It doesn't take great detective work to get to a dirty slit glass. Clearly I did...
Thanks for this - I'll definitely do that. I cleaned it quickly with an alcohol pad, but this didn't help. I will try to do a more thorough job. (This is the not a duplex copy btw.)
Well, I'm not completely brain dead... clearly I wouldn't waste everyone's time and energy if the problem were so obvious.
Of course the slit glass isn't dirty. You think I'd post it here if it was?
Issue occurs only using ADF -- both scans and copies. No issue on printing or scans/copies using the platen glass.
Ricoh MP C5502 with three horizontal lines in the middle of the page. This only appears when using the document feeder -- platen works fine. Appears on both scan and copy. Optics have a small amount...
It makes the sound constantly during operation no matter the time. The loudness and pitch is not always the same, but it is always from the same area on the machine. As well, when output is running...
I noticed the noise is most prominent on 600x600, but when printing 1200x1200 (slower output), the noise is gone.
Here is some updated video.
Note this is not just some random DIY thing - we are just trying to get some expert advice in order not to get screwed. We aren't in the US, so it ain't like home!

I didn't list myself as a tech. I noticed that too, but I didn't do it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Any idea what causes this failure?
Ricoh MP C5502 with about 40,000 copies. Copy speed and quality seem fine, but it makes this terrible squealing sound. Tech came and put some grease on the fuser assembly gears, but it hasn't helped....
You know, the thread starter is an importer of used machines, probably in a place without a lot of money or resources. Do you know where those machines go? Mainly to family-run shops in far off...
Does the MP C5502 have a mechanical counter as well? If so, where?
You know for some people having something really fast is just the issue.
An assistant used to be a teacher in another lifetime... she probably thinks she's doing the earth a favor...........
1. You can't edit the title (I tried) and no one asked or seemed confused.
2. For security reasons I cannot tell you my location.
Not asking for a referral... just general traits, training, etc. Probably too vague to answer - but thanks for your interest.
Thanks A LOT!
Concerning paper, any recommendations with respect to brand, etc? Before switching to this economy stuff we ran Double A Everyday. Any suggestions from the UMP line?
