Well I tried to strip down the black unit but the hopper section is *really* not intended to be taken apart. Lots of sticky strips and a couple of tabs broken off.

OK, that sounds plausible and you're right the construction does sound very similar. It has a one part toner, soft rollers and a doctor blade although the blade seems to be fairly rigid.
I will...
The LED units are the same part and there is one each for CYMK. They are interchangeable. If I swap black and one of the others, the output is exactly the same.
Yeah, the whole unit is usually replaced as a block. Thing is, the counts are super low and all the colours are printing splendidly.
I think the previous owner probably had some really rubbish...
I also wondered if there is a way if I can check the LED unit output. It's a bit of a long shot but perhaps there is some weird comms error between the black LED unit and the main board causing a...
Hi,
I have an OKI MC561 colour LED printer. CYM are all printing fine. Black has vertical stripes.
There are 4 separate imaging units mounted in a cage. The cage is intended to be replaced as a...
That's excellent news!
It's not going to take anywhere near that long in practise. The logistics are still ramping up.
It is also a common misconception that you need 100% vaccine coverage to stop the disease in it's...
God, I read that original article. Complete clickbait. :(
It is certainly possible that Canada has been a laggard in terms of getting the vaccines out.
However, it is worth bearing in mind:

These are very bizarre times, that's for sure.
When I'm watching stuff on the TV and in the cinema (back when we used to be able), I often find myself drawn to the equipment.
Was watching Cobra Kai on Netflix and in the dojo office, there was...
Also worth bearing in mind, IIRC, Microsoft made a large departure for their driver model in Windows around about the time of Vista.
A lot of stuff stopped working around that time if the...
And it works. :D

You guys are awesome.
Thank you very much strider555! It is very much appreciated!!!
Sorry for these "archaeological" requests. This particular machine is still performing sterling service and got the option to do some...

I downloaded an installation manual from one of the other posts here, which I see now is for C252, C300, C352.
So I guess the instructions are for FS-514 which looks to be similar but different...
Hi,
I am trying to install the additional output tray OT-601 to an FS-508 finisher.
I see other references to the insertion of a short-circuit plug to indicate the presence of the tray but I...
Yes, I may keep it myself as a backup machine. It probably needs a new toner cartridge. It's printing a bit light so the toner is probably quite old.
The machine prints fine through USB, although it could probably benefit from a new toner cartridge.
For those that are au fait with such things, here is the USB capability dump from lsusb and it...
I understand your misgivings but this machine is part of a collection of machines that I am using to support Linux SANE drivers with, in particular the xerox_mfp backend.
It was given to me for free...
I managed to find some stock firmware, 1.09 and 1.07 and successfully flashed the machine to stock 1.09 but the problem still persists.
The machine's scanner is not detected by Windows' scan...
Hi,
I have a Samsung SCX-4100 machine that does not seem to support scanning at the moment via the USB interface.
The machine is not seen by the Windows XP or Windows 7 scanner drivers nor the...
Well, we are right behind you.
As I think I posted earlier, both my mum and dad were longtime smokers until they were shaken by the death of a neighbour and that was what they needed.
Neither of my...

When he is ushered in, he tells the doctor, "Doctor! I have a real problem with gas. I let rip with these enormous farts. They are completely silent and...
