Does this machine comes with a document feeder? Can you make make copies off the glass to output into the LS? From your post I got the impression that you have a 1050 printer version.
it can be as simple as stacker trolley or tray is not seated properly. since you have the P version you may not be able to see the message.
The same symptoms can occur if the sensor that detects the lever to unlock the ADU is knocked off or the plastic piece is broken. Most probably happens when customer forces the handle to rotate...
DP sensors on these machines are same for all colors. Try and switch them around and see if the error code change, this will confirm a band DP sensor
If the charge is missing on a Digital machine (any copier with a write unit), you will see black copies and later see starter pulled out from the dev unit.
