sounds like the master clamp is not releasing the old master. In the back of the machine there is a clamp motor with gears and a cam. I suspect this is out of time or not working
If you are trying to access them from another computer, win7 home will not share to the network. Need win7 pro or enterprise.
Is it possible she got into the admin mode ,went to setup and disabled these functions. They can be all turned off there. I know this is a stretch, but we've all been there.
If this is on win7, I think by default file sharing is turned off which would cause your issue. Also, win7 is picky about domains, you might need to make sure the copier is in the domain also. good...

I believe most of the Riso's used a letter/legal drum and a separate ledger drum. Could you possibly be using a letter drum, which is what it sounds like to me, as the master will be longer than 17"...
Any laptop HDD of at least 20gb. Just do an 08-690 format of the drive after install.There is no operating data on it.
If I remember correctly, these used a laptop HDD, used one might cost 30 to 40 dollars. Even if full size HDD, not expensive.
the ink cartridges have tabs on the end which actuates switchs in the drum. Either one of the tabs broke off or you have a bad switch in the drum.
win7 X64 bit uses port 139 for services, causing smb errors.try using port 445.

Risographs are notoriuos for ink buildup on the rollers. Try scraping the roller with a knife edge and see if dried ink doesn't flake off and your roller becomes new again.
The battery should look like a big watch battery on the main board, not on an IC.

on the HC5500 there is a plate with a sensor for picking up paper that is too thick. If this is not adjusted correctly it can cause your problem. A place for your Riso tech's to check.

I believe you can go to the codes and set it to treat A4 and letter as the same and get rid of the issue.
