I have had NIC failures on a few different KM models... either the port is physically damaged / bowed out from the cable getting snagged / pulling on it. Or it has been hooked up to a faulty POE...
In all instances where I have been called out for repeat issues by other techs, I remove the TX belt and all dev units / drums and clean the black mylars that sit above the erase lamps. Replace the...
Almost as good as the MFD I had that was covered with a powder fire extinguisher hahahaa
FYI the powder is bad to breathe also LOL
Last time I had an issue with one of those machines not printing a single colour, it was the drive coupling on the back wall which is spring loaded, it was stuck in and not engaging the IU drive.
Thanks everyone for all the replies already, it is much appreciated and I don't expect anyone to help out with VISA legalities etc, it is just more of a general question if someone has done it...
You can setup a non E series MFD using http://aspmx.l.google.com

Howdy all, just wanted to seek some advice if anyone has been in a similar situation with trying to relocate to the US from another country / sponsored work VISA.
I am currently in Australia and...
Hopper issue is pretty common, the K hopper is direct drive instead of shaft drive like the other colours. It can be the white auger cap at the front binding up and also a felt washer on the back...
I deal with tons of scan to cloud email issues that get escalated, my first point of call is to replicate settings from the MFD on my laptop including its IP and physical connection and confirm they...
I have seen initialising the fax kit fix some crazy issues that you would normally blame a customer for such as no dial tone or no answering incoming faxes. It is my first goto whenever a fax is...
I would initialise the fax setting data and test it from scratch also try the other sensor table under service mode :)
2 Shark fins is usually MMC / SSD requires replacement. Rule out others by trying other memory and disconnecting the HDD. Also ensure network is disconnected. I have heard a couple of rare cases...
I would replace the fusing exit sensor or swap it with another sensor and see if the fault moves. Remove all foam pads from the switchback gate and exit sensor (will just make it a little louder) I...
Should be fine, ive seen machines with 120gb drives in them :) just remember to format it once installed otherwise you will get HDD error.
yup i prefer adding pressure to the clip also. However i have seen all methods done including adding conductive grease and a machine still manages to dump its dev so are a few issues at work. Man do...
yeah i with you on that one, depends on your budget i guess :) i would do them all personally as if i recall the notice about them involved faulty batches so the others are likely to fail.
well you can reset the admin password in CE mode but i am not sure if you can reset the CE password without replacing parts on that model. It might be possible with a full run up again maybe someone...
what was wrong with the old board, is it the same issue after replacing it? Also is the screen backlit when it displays the hourglass? It may just need firmware loaded or a NVRAM recovery if it had...
Administrator password should just be 12345678, unless it has been modified. CE password could be anything but a popular one is 92729272
On initial release it was required that all 4 be replaced as they were batched laser assemblies, this policy was changed however and you can now replace them individually :)
When you say motor and sensors ok what are you referring to?
i would start with the relay control board on the back of the stacker unit and meter out all the ICP's. I have had different faults...
you sure a special firmware is required, during our field programs most machines just have a stop > non-stop option under techrep mode for IU life setting its under one of the hidden security modes.
The part numbers i have are for the IU assy which includes the drum unit and dev tank as 1 piece then you fit your own drum to it and add dev.
yup i with you on that, when im fixing an noise i do everything i listed above to save further callbacks. I have had the gear system apart on a few fusers and greased them but lately it hasn't been...
