Have you asked the user to demonstrate what they are doing when the fault occurs?
Can they reproduce the fault it for you?

Are you using the 'Easy firmware upgrade' method, or the traditional FTP / Web admin method?

Replaced the lower High Voltage PCB with one out of a good printer

Put Dud PCB on other printer... no problem. It works too....

Swapped them both back - now both working.! ...

I suggest you try replacing the Fuser assembly. Older machine can have the lubricating grease in the fixing film dry out, which can cause the film to lag from the pressure roller driving it = paper...

If this device is also on network as a printer, try leaving the network unplugged overnight.
I have seen a problem with print audit / fleet management software that 'polls' or interrogates devices...
