The lesson is don't set up a Riso studio next to Tram lines and expect the electrical imbalance not to affect your equipment!

Thanks for the pointers Iowatech, although the drum lock is the least of my problems! Luckily the machine gave the error when the drum was already in the home position so removing it was not at all...
I've tried swapping out drums, but, if my reasoning is correct, the problem must be on the machine-side (not the drum itself) since I get the error even with no drum mounted.
