did you try to change the IN/OUT under UI diag? for me, mostly pattern 4 level 6 is quite acceptable

Try to remove all the nvm pwbs, rams, other small cards within the ess, and use a green hard pencil eraser to remove oxidation from the contacts
measure the nvm battery, it has to be around 3V, if...
1. The toner dispenser gear is worn, glue it, or replace
2. the devhousing assy bearing is dead, which kills the gears of the augers

Well, it is a "normal" condition for this kinda machines:)
You could check the YM laser assy IN/OUT settings in Service mode, and try Pattern adjustment
I had to replace 2 time the YM laser assy...
The following three NVMs values will help extend the Waste Toner Cartridge life. Please change them as follows:
762-143 - 22 (current) change to 10
762-145 - 28 (current) change to 16
...

2. too much toner contamination on the IOT pwb

Well, I would suggest 7335, a real workhorse. Ask for the UI touchpanel, if it was replaced, then it should be a good pick.
7242 is a slow, sometimes annoying thing:(
