170 (laser jet) and they said they never heard of that one.

Double check you're model# because I can't find that one on Canon's tech site. The closest thing I found was a L780 or 790 something like that not a L170. Good Luck.

Yup, the L170 is certainly a valid model.
It looks a little like the Fax 2060, but I'm sure it's different. (At least I found a
picture
of it, anyway.
)
I must have searched the 'Net for over an hour, and no dice on finding any manual for it, either free or otherwise.
The quest continues...
