E7-04 - CCD white level trouble...
CCD white reference level which is read during the copy lamp lighting is abnormal.
Clean the mirror, the lens, and the
reference white plate. (located under the slit glass area)...
clean or replace the reference white sheet...
This problem occurs often, search this site and you will find more information in reference to this problem.. Remove the SPF glass, clean the underside of it..
if this does not work try this below: I have sucessfully replaced this part many times.

E7-04 Error code
Check to make sure the white sheet is installed (PN: PSHEZ0122QSZZ).
- SPF Mode Only
Re-align position of CCD Unit
- When installing the AR-SP2 make sure this sheet gets installed and does not get thrown away during installation.
- In SPF Mode, the mirror scans into MHPD and performs black/white correction. The mirror then moves into SPF position, performs black/white correction, then codes out to E-7, Sub 4. NOTE: Scribe current position of the CCD Unit before attempting to re-align. Also, take care while tightening the CCD mounting screws. Insure the unit does not move after re-alignment
E7-04 error code only through the doc feeder, or when performing test command 53-09 and getting all zeros...
Lamp out of adjustment, CCD height out of adjustment, or scanner cables are stretched. This error code can appear when the number 2 and 3 mirrors are out of position. The reflector (converging plate) may also be out of position. Also check the height of the CCD. Adjust the single screw located on the left side of the CCD (when facing the copier) by 1 mm increments. It s a good idea to record your starting height measurements. Standard height from the CCD plate to optics base is 3 mm. The CCD height may range from 2 to 4.5 mm. This height is adjusted during production and may vary.
1/2 turn up or down on the front CCD adjusting screw takes care of this the majority of the time.
Be sure to mark the screws original position so you can go back to it if needed.
MCU-ROM version upgraded
Check to make sure the little mylar has not come off the top of the slit glass on the rear frame side. If it has you can paint the underside of the glass where the sheet is supposed to be with white out.
