Getting the error CE-04 scanning windows 10 any help appreciated, folder is shared all the usual setting checked

CE-04 is an FTP authentication error, if you are scanning to FTP make sure you are using FileZilla and not the built in FTP protocol, have created a new account within FileZilla and given it a password, read & write permissions for the scan folder, and enabled FTP in and out through the firewall.

Otherwise, you may have to setup a local SMTP server.

I believe this model does not support the newer SMB protocols which 10 uses, I checked the firmware but there is no mention of updates to SMB. This is a very basic model, so scan to FTP will probably be the best route to go down, with the firewall set to only allow port 21 over private network it is as secure as SMB (albeit, it doesn't use the Windows authentication system).
