Sharp SF-2118, pick up problems.

Sharp SF-2118, pick up problems. The rollers are all new and the clutches have been cleaned. Manual feed copies are very much OK. Copies out of the cassette always, without exception, stop just before the pre-reg rollers: The leading edge passes the bend until just a few mm before the pre-registration roller it stops feeding so the paper cannot reach that roller to continue. Manual feeding goes flawlessly so the clutches seems to be OK, pre-registration roller is turning. Any idea's please? Hans

It might be the case that paper feed roller and separation roller were worn out.

Oh.... I had missed some descriptions on the top of your photo!!!!

If all rollers are newly replaced, then it should be something not properly installed.

There is a one-way clutch in the paper feed roller so it must be installed in the proper direction. (The roller must rotates when you turn the shaft in the paper feeding direction.)

Also check if the separation roller is installed correctly or not. (The roller must rotates when you push it towards the paper feeding direction.)

clean the one way pulley for the pre reg roller and scuff the shaft with a file, and get a new machine, that thing is ancient and is the worst product line sharp ever had

yeh, machine seems to be ancient as color of the covers says but as i see ur pict. it has two trays are the clutches the same 4both trays have you tried interchanging it? or try to push down the machine from above on the right side while you copy, if it goes then something s wrong with the lock alignment or covers (like ur bypass tray), or is your reversing roller new? or try adjusting the bypass cover in/out or insert spacers on the screw bet. d m/c and cover(coz the cover/frame does'nt sit properly or observe from the drive side some thing unusual in the timing of the feed clutches. if not pray for help!!!!

Thanks so much for all your efforts guys. Did as everybody advised and had the feeling that the tip from Neilt69 was the break through. I added some washers under the the sidepanel, which guides the paper around the bend, and that worked best. Hans

I would have pointed you to the one-way bearings. There are several on this unit, and cleaning and oiling usually solves the problem. =^..^=
