Hi All,
Well, in over 30 years I've never been unable to remove a glass to clean the optics. What am I missing? (I even downloaded the manual, but all I saw was removing the scanner unit?)
Thanks,
Buddy

It's not fun. You it will take you maybe 30 mins to remove it.
Yes, you need to remove the entire scanning unit.

I shouldn't say this. But twice I noticed lines, I saw the piece of dust, so to avoid removing the entire scanner assembly, I drilled a hole, and blew air. It worked.
I plugged the whole with a small plastic screw, sharpied it black, and went on my way.
Just a thought.

The B & C 402's are the same way also. Fortunately they are sealed really well and in a clean environment you don't have to clean the optics unless there is a problem.
IIRC you have to remove the scanner and flip the assy upside-down to access the screws. You should have heard the gasps from the other Sharp techs when they saw what I was doing. "I won't have to do that, will I?"
Only if you want to clean the scanner optics. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

GEEEZ, what was Sharp thinking?? Nothing stays clean forever, even if it's in a sealed unit.
Thanks guys.
