MX-6500N with skew

Looking for help yet again.....

We have an MX-6500N that our customer is using to run business card stock. Paper is well within machine spec. When we run regular paper out of any tray...copier or LCT trays...it runs dead straight. When we run the business card stock there is about a 1.5 millimeter skew on a 12" sheet. The Duplo business card cutter our salesman got the huge commission on does have a skew adjustment, and it works great....as long as you only do one-sided business cards. We have replaced the paper-stop (registration for those of you as old as me) assembly. We adjusted the buckle to either extreme to no avail. This is a straight line skew with no curve, and it can be seen across the erase margin. We have had another fuser in the machine, but I would have expected a curved skew if that was the problem. I am considering modifying the paper-stop unit we removed to a lower tension between the rollers, but thought it might be easier to type for a few minutes as opposed to actually working.

I would verify that the paper is being run on the proper paper setting first and that the rollers are not worn. After that I would run SIM 50-28 setup adjust then all and select the tray you're having issues with. In the manual it says repeating can improve accuracy but your mileage may verify with this. Let me know if this helps.

Have you ran it out of the bypass tray set as card stock?

We tried from the bypass as well....the problem is exactly the same. We are running this on heavy 2 wherever we run it from, and have the same problem consistently. We have taken some of this paper to a couple of other accounts and have been able to run it with no problem.....although ten sheets may not be a true test. According to the main technician on this call 50-28 is not supposed to be run, so until Sharp says do it we probably won't mess with that. We have the info uploaded to Sharp, but they haven't gotten back to us yet.

because the card stocks have a bit of a finish, you might want to instead try the glossy setting...I've had success doing that...maybe rough up a few rollers...

Is your main tech certified on this machine? I have went through the school and I am certified on it and yes 50-28 is not normally required because the factory does it however when a machine is moved thousands of miles from the factory it bounces around and sometimes it's out of spec. The new Phoenix and Griffin series are supposed to not need that done either but I have done it to fix issues on all 3. Also check the firmware. There were some updates for timing on different paper types. Also the machine has different specs for glossy type paper vs standard heavy or cardstock. I'd advise looking at the media guide for the Polaris pro for reference.
