    DV Unit losing magnetism

I've got a MX-7040 that has a line on the mag roller where the developer is no longer sticking. It's happened on several other machines as well. What causes this?

Have you looked to see if you have anything stuck at the dv doctor blade?

Is it a rotational void, or front to rear void. If rotational, the previous post has your answer.

Your DV doctor blade is built up. If you look on ctn you will find a post by Black Cat where he makes a hook from mylar to get the chunks out.

I've seen this, yeah, exactly as Luke said. There is most likely something stuck on the blade. Usually some toner accumulation that has mildly hardened into a little clump and is now stuck there in between the Mag-roller and Blade.

Solution: ALWAYS vacuum the inside of the DV unit when it's emptied.

If your getting this on several machines, and after a PM, then the developer units are not being clean well enough. I would double check the method that is being used to clean the dv units on the PM's. If not cleaned very well you will get this white line issue from the loosened/harden toner/dv that builds up on the ends, and then will lodge in the dv doctor blade giving you your "DV losing magnetism". Really what you are getting wake created by the build up, and not a lose of magnetism. If you lose magnetism you would have a much bigger problem.
