Check to see if the firmware is the latest version and if it isnt update it. Thats what Sharp will ask right off the bat

    What's a MX-M260? I'm assuming you meant MX-M620(N/U)?

    Bulletin MFP-SB-388
There was a Firmware update in April 2010 for this. Description is as follows:

"#5. (Printer-related) Printing specific data may cause an F9-88 error to occur in the middle of the print job. This issue has been corrected."

    Good Luck.

The F9-88 often relates to the fax option - if that option is installed, remove it, clear memories, and see if trouble returns. Sometimes, replacing the MM9 will take care of this error code (if it has the fax option).

I have seen a corrupted print job cause this code. Does the copier run without the network and fax line plugged in? If so, then plug in your network or fax cable and see if code reappears. Do them separately. If it codes without the cables plugged in I think the place to start would be to reset the NIC with system settings. Good luck.

    Re: MX-M260...F9-88

This is an interesting issue. I've came across this on numerous occasions. There's actually 3 possible causes.

    1. Corrupted/Stuck Jobs - This is the most simple check. Turn off the copier, unplug network cable, turn on copier and test. If copier boots and you can make copies without getting F9-88, try plugging in the network cable and see if F9-88 comes back. If it does, chances are you are gonna be spending countless hours locating and deleting that ghost job.
    2. Bad Printer Memory - Try replacing and see if that fix the problem.
    3. Bad Printer (Not Engine) Firmware - This one's a pain, the models I worked on needed to update these firmware using serial data cable. You'll need to follow the SMs to get these updated.

    Hope these help.
