    Special modes, different paper settings

I've a customer who is trying to setup multiple print queues to one MX5140

When he changes the settings in printer properties/ advanced/ printing defaults, some push to the clients PC others don't.

The one in particular is special modes/ different paper settings.

He is trying to print the first page to tray two (headed) and the rest to tray one.

Is there a way to push these settings out.

    Thanks

If you have not done, I would do this
    1. set up printer
    2. create the job (first page tray 2, subsequent tray 1) save the settings as a job name
    3. set BOTH printing defaults and printing preferences to this job

See what happens. I have found the printing printing defaults and preferences don't always work together the way they should.

It's also possible the shared install will push out the pre defined job but has to be set at client machine as preference.

Not 100% on this as I struggle with this as well in different but similar situations.

Not all driver settings are pushed when default settings are adjusted on the server.

so: if you install a printers on a server, the clients will take the "default settings" from the server

the printing preferences are for the user that is logged in at that time.

Things like carbon copy, overlays,...also dont work this way...you have to set them on the pc itself.

If anyone has a solution for this, it would be very welcome

on the server for this printer go to printer properties then the advanced tab then printing defaults this is what is used to send to the clients PC

and set up in special modes, different paper what you need and save this setting and use

set up next print driver to do single b/w as default you can name these printer drivers to make it easy for them

single B/w these are printer names set up on server and each set up as they say under THE ADVANCE TAB printing defaults on the server
    duplex B/W
    single colour
letterhead / plain for this one same as above plus go to SPECIAL MODES and use DIFFERENT PAPER save this set up and use as default

Wont work with special modes like other paper or carbon copy and such...these are settings you have to save per user.

If they really need to accomplish this, they cold use the PrintMulti print processor. It takes a bit of work to set up, but it would accomplish this goal. Website is here: PrintMulti

I've used it in the past for some Samsung copiers, whose print drivers didn't have carbon copy (was able to make three copies of one print, with each being pulled from a different drawer).

If it's just a few users, it would probably be better to go to each PC and configure each user's Preferences rather than going through the PrintMulti setup.
