The slit glass of the doc feeder is for the duplex (second side) scan. The slit glass next to the original glass is for the first side scan.

You may want to check the white reference plate and make sure it isn't dirty or marked up. Also I usually like to run SIM 44-6 or 44-26 and have the machine recalibrate it's grayscales

My guess is that your enduser has been copying books off of the glass, and has been pressing down hard enough with the DF to warp the glass downward. As light source #1 passes the edge of the copyboard glass it snags, and bends the reflector. Now that reflector blocks the light path to the yellow and magenta CCD receptors.

I know that it should affect both the DF original feeds AND the scans off the glass, but sometimes these things surprise me.

    From the database:
Toshiba eS4555C: Copies and scans have a cyan band toward the center of the page in the feed direction. Yellow and/or magenta are absent because the reflector for light source #1 is bent. When the enduser copies a book they press hard enough to warp the glass, then it catches on the reflector. Reform the reflector for light source #1.

    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
