MX-M503N has E6-11 and 2-2 and 2-1 grayed out

This was a new customer first time there. I noticed 2-2 and 2-1 were grayed out. I thought maybe they were disabled for some reason,I didnt ask. The e6-11 code says a white level shading problem. Now I was looking at service bullitens for a different model and came across a tech tip with these same symptoms saying it is the inverter board in the dspf. I dont see anything in the doc feeder of the 503 that is called inverter board. Anybody seen these symptoms on this model? Thanks for any help.

best guess is the doc. feeder CIS isn't working. Check page C-2 in manual

I would also check to make sure the machine is not setup up for "Mixed documents" as default. This is a setting to use for the doc feeder if you are going to be scanning many different sizes at the same time, IE...receipts, in which case, it will not let you combine them to a duplexed page.

If it was just a setting change you wouldn't get the E6-11 error code.

Yeah, I ordered the doc feed cis unit. Have not recieved it yet. Will let you all know if that fixes it.

could also be the doc feeder control board. I have had staples and paper clips blow them out.

Couple things to check:
- is the DSPF lamp illiminating
- SIM 63 check the DSPF gain value, if its double digits, CIS is bad
Also be aware that DSPF control board only supplies voltages to sensors, clutches, etc. The SCU (scanner control board) does the image formation, white reference and shading.

I was going to order the scan control board also but didnt. This customer is only there a limited time so I have not been back yet. I am supposed to go back there Friday. I will let you all know what I find then.
