mx-m465 admin password

Hello,

we just got in a Sharp Mx-m465 with a mx-fr44u data security and the previous owner lost the admin password. I was wondering if anyone knows how to reset the machine so that we can use a new password.

If you have another MXM465 around that does not have a data security kit, you can take the two ROM chips off the MFP board of that one, and swap them with the machine with the security kit. The machine will error out, but it will then allow you to enter Sim 24 to reset the admin password. Then you can reinstall the original ROM chips and the machine should work just fine. Otherwise, there is no other way to reset the admin password.

thanks for the info, this is the only mx-m465 we have in shop and owner is in discussions with the seller about it. This machine was bought with the story that it didnt have data security then it turned out to have it, so for now its out of my hands. thanks

This model does not have ROM chips, it has an SD and CF cards. Additionally there is a main board dip switch to reset admin password on this model. Flip the switch, boot the machine right into SIM 24. Reset the error, power down and flip switch back.

My mistake! For some reason or another, I was thinking of an MXM453. Thank you for the correction!
