Re: Sharp MX-4141N Phantom Paper Jam

It seems you want an easy answer for the misfeeds. Misfeeds are caused by several things 1. worn rollers replace them. 2 dirty sensors clean them. 3 objects in paper path remove them. 4. defective components sensors, motors, clutches, boards. replace them. You start by looking at sims and finding what code is being shown then go to manual and find out what code means usually it will say a specific sensor is not being activated at the correct time or that it is activated when it shouldn't be . Test components with sims and observe what is happening if paper jams and has a dent in lead edge then maybe there is a paperclip blocking it. If you are an inexperienced tech you need to get with a more experienced one & have him guide you. If you are an end user you need to pay someone who has the training to solve your issue.

    Good luck

One last thought. This unit has a single pass duplexing document feeder. I had a customer that was not latching the door when she closed it. It will run somewhat in that condition. Push the door down and listen for the latch to click in place.

SIM 23-2 will give a much better and more detailed error report.

I would use the search feature on this site, if I were you:

If I were me. I would look in the service manual

I would look at replacing the pickup, feed, sep rollers in the ADF. Usually if they are worn out or slipping on the paper, they will give that jam code, since the paper is not reaching the first sensor in time. Sharp usually recommends replacing these rollers at 100k, so you aren't too far off, not too mention if they are the original rollers, then they are old.

You say it never misfeeds but you get a misfeed message. Does it continue trying to feed after all of the pages have been fed? This would give you a misfeed message but it will be more involved than just replacing rollers.

no it doesnt, there are no physical paper jams, no attempting to feed additional sheets....it just constantly is giving that error.

With that jam I would take the top assembly off where the feed rollers are and check if there is a piece of paper blocking the paper path preventing the paper from reaching the first sensor. That's the most common cause of that particular jam. If there is no paper then test the SPPD1 sensor in simulations to see if it is bad.

    Good luck
