    Doc feeder

Have a MX-3640 document feeder that after scanning requests 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 paper. copier indicates 8 X 11 paper in document feeder. All switches working in document feeder. replaced board in document feeder and motor for possible timeing issue. Happens on only 8 x 11 paper not 8 x 11R or any other size. Talked to Sharp technical they are out of ideas.

I had a similiar problem on an 4110N. Turned out to be sensor. First one when in DF tray size detect. Good luck.

Yes, did the recalibration, no errors.
wondering if there is a missed setting somewhere.

Document feeder seems to see correctly, put 8.5 X 11 in tray. Copier shows 8.5 X 11 tray chosen as the one to be used. after it scans it will print on correct size then ask for 8 X 5 to be loaded. one job will be in copier Q un-printed as it asks for 8 X 5 paper that stops further scanning.

Swapped sensors even after they tested good, no change.

    Re: Doc feeder

Is someone sending a print job asking for the different size paper?

If the scanned image is printing on the proper size paper, you don't have a document feeder problem.

Check the queue before scanning a copy and scan it.

If a job shows up in the queue then select a paper size and print it to see if it is the same image you just copied.

Cleared back to factory, problem is gone now. always hate doing that previous machines it could cause on going problems. Instructor said to hit yourself in the head with a hammer before doing that and if you still did try it again. only then clear it.
