Re: MX-5141N Depleted Cyan Developer After Replacement

If you have a yellow developer you can use it. Put it in the DV unit and run 25-2 as normal. Then run sky shots until the yellow toner that is in the developer is replaced with cyan. Then go back in and run your normal calibration procedure. Takes a bit but saves lots of cash.

Yes, I actually have an extra yellow developer and was planning on trying this before breaking down and buying a whole set. Thanks for confirming it should work!

You are welcome. I have done this with the other colors but it takes longer.

Our company stayed away from this series because of this issue, however, it was not as bad on the 41 series for us, but the 51 series, forget about it. Our company placed most of the clients in other series because of this issue, Sharp made some attempts to try to resolve it, updated drum units, waste toner containers, etc, but they still suck toner and developer if not maintained regularly. If we have a client that is still has a 5140/5141 we just do courtesy calls if we are in the area, to prevent this from happening, even though we have provided all of Sharp's updates. Again make sure you are following proper procedure in service manual ( 1-C), no toner installed, door open, updated parts, current firmware, etc.

Replaced the whole drum unit, waste bin and used the yellow developer we had on hand. Took about 75 pages front and back to get the yellow to green. Good enough to start printing our user manuals again as it continues to transition to blue. Much cheaper than buying a whole developer set. Thanks for your help. Ill let you know in a week or two if this fixed the depletion issue. Thanks again!

Also check the PTC. If it's brown flush it down.

And, Internal developer seals. Bad ones cause dusting of the drum and charges

Emptying a mx310hb, or 510hb, waste toner container, is a bad idea.

We have always used original Sharp Toners and Developers and still had this issue on 2 machines.
