Question MX-6070N makes a 1mm line only when scans.

Hi, Does anyone know what causes (& fixes) of a 1mm line on the front and back at one side of image scan on these Sharp MX-6070N with only 8,000 c/p. Copies and prints come out fine.

    Your help would be appreciated,

    Thank you,

Could the slit glass or optics be dirty? Like a spot of ink or whiteout? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I would guess, scanner jitter, if the machine is in a dirty environment, if its copy only, clean the rails, both mirror bases ride on, and relube. Other than that we need a scan example.

Question Re: MX-6070N makes a 1mm line only when scans.

    Hello,

This is a new device with about 8000 prints in it. When we copy and print either single sided or double sided they come out perfect. However, when we scan, regardless of whether we scan single sided or double sided, there is a 1 mm line that comes out on one or both of the sides of the image that has been scanned.

This what we have done so far: We have flushed the firmware with the latest update. I cleaned the optical unit three times, I went to system settings in the embedded webpage and went to the quality scan section and changed the setting from 3 to 1. The image comes out lighter but the line still appears on the scanned image. I changed the dpi or resolution without any results.

At this point any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

it doesn't take much of a mark on the slit glass to cause a defect.... what did you use to clean both sides of the slit glass?

a 1 mm line ? what do you mean?

a line that is 1 mm from edge of paper?

    if so check mag ratio.

+1 on this. You may be seeing a slight reduction in the document SIZE, giving you that 1mm border along one side.

If the document size is configured correctly, then I'd look at the start/stop position of your scan.

Is it the same if you use the table glass? If you use ADF did you compare the original document and the copy if the size are almost the same? I encounter with some sharp machines that the copy is smaller than the original that why the edge of the original is the line appearing in the copy.
