    Unhappy Sharp mxm350 light copies

I HAVE A NEW INSTALL SHARP MXM350. WHEN INSTALLED I RAN SIM 25-2 AND EVERYTHING APPEARED
NORMAL. 2500 COPIES LATER COPIES WERE SO LIGHT
YOU COULD BARELY READ TEXT. I CHECK THE TONER
CARTRIDGE AND IT APPEARED TO BE LOCKED UP, SO
I REPLACED THE DEVELOPER AND RAN 25-2 AGAIN
ONLY THIS TIME IT CAME UP WITH EE-EU CODE TWICE
AND THE THIRD TIME IT RAN THE SIM NORMALLY. I SWAPPED OUT THE OLD TONER CARTRIDGE WITH A
NEW ONE AND LEFT. I CHECKED BACK A WEEK LATER
(6500 COPIES) AND THE COPIES WERE NICE AND DARK
SO I THOUGHT I HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM. ONE MORE
WEEK AND THE PROBLEM IS BACK COPIES SO LIGHT YOU CAN'T READ. I REPLACED THE DEVELOPER
ASSEMBLY THINKING THE TONER SENSOR MUST BE
BAD. WHEN RUNNING SIM 25-2 IT KEEPS GIVING THE
ERROR "EE-EU". IS THIS A BAD MAIN BOARD OR WHAT? I WOULD APPRECIATED ANY HELP?
    THANKS
    PERRY

EE-EU is the code for under toned. If you've switched DV units, it sounds like the main PWB isn't getting the signal right. If you're stirring a new bag of developer, it has the right amount of toner in it already, so you're not concerned about the the cartridge, toner motor or anything that related to adding toner to the DV. Are you positive the DV unit is turning? That or maybe the wiring harness would be the only other thing.
    Hope that helps !

    Tony,
Thanks for responding. The Developer must be turning
on because it makes great copies immediately after
adding new mix. As for the harness are you talking about
the harness at the back of the machine than runs from the
developer plug connection to the PCM board?
    Thanks for helping.

EE-EU is an undertone condition. You can get this for a variety of reasons. Let's start with the obvious ones that you've already covered:
dead developer, locked up toner cartridge, developer not stirred.

The not-so-obvious possibilities: loss of agitation to the developing unit (damaged drive couplers, rounded out 'D' bore in the developer drive gear), right type of developer, defective toner sensor, seizing developing cylinder, and dead last PCU PWB.

Now I realize that most of these problems are symptomatic of a much more used machine, but that doesn't make any of them impossible. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Yep, that's the only connection between the Toner sensor on the DV unit (which you've replaced) and the main PWB. It'd pretty much have to be one of those 2 things. The harness is the cheapest unless the machine is still under warranty.
    Hope that helps !

    Tony,
Yes the machine is still under warranty. I'll the check the developer wiring harness then as a last resort replace the
    pcm board.
    Thanks for the help.

In the original post you replaced the Developer Assembly. Is this the entire DV unit?
    Hope that helps !

    Tony,
Yes the complete developer assembly and new mix
as well. I tried SIM 25-2 probably 5 times and kept
getting the "EE-EU" code. By the way I meant to say
    the PCU PWB earlier.
    Thanks

Maybe I'm crazy, but I think we're making this thing too complicated. I would check to make sure that the developer is agitating (everything rotating that should).

The wiring harness couldn't be more than a foot long from the developer connector to the PCU. I can't imagine this being very difficult to pin out.

You've eliminated everything but the board & the connection to the board. I would think the board would be more likely the culprit. In my experience though, Sharp has had the fewest "bad boards" of anything I've worked on.
    Hope that helps !
