FO-4400 intermittent paper jams.

Of course it never occurs while I am there. But they never find paper in the fax. 21k on the fax machine. I never had the feed rollers for tray 1 to go bad so I was thinking it may be the solenoid. Does anyone have any thoughts.

The feed tires are easy enough to get to, and often get toner on them. That can cause some of your problems. I personally have never seen a worn out tire on one of these. There are other possibilities though.

Look at the rear paper guide in the tray. There will probably be paper cuts in the plastic guide. That can definitely cause your problem. You can order the tray assy (no sub-assemblies), or you can do what I do. I have cut out of 24 gauge galvanized steel (like ductwork) a flat metal patch to cover the cut up side. The resulting piece is ~ 2" x ~3.5" and has a few bends to match the contour of the guide. I'll put some two sided tape on the back to secure it, and Voila! If you make these things up in advance it's a 5 minute job to slap one of these on. I've got 20 of these things sitting on my desk right now.

There is a foam sound damping pad on the pickup solenoid that can get sticky. You can clean off all the foam and adhesive and put a little disk of black tape on there to damp the sound.

The worst though is the plastic feed shaft itself can warp or break the alignment tangs. It's a real mother to change. It's 3 hours plus to change out this part if you've done it before. I wouldn't even attempt it in the customer's office. =^..^=
