Sharp AR-287 E7-07 error

I have searched many Sharp manuals and all of the manuals DO NOT have the sub code 07 in them. I dont have a 287 manual and thats why I was looking at other Sharps. I know it has something to do with the optical system but dont want to start tearing into a machine this old when I dont know too much about it. What is the error and how do you enter simulation? Thanks,
J

Well, the original manual doesn't have an E7-07 code. It might be a false code caused by arcing in the main charge; check that and the ground strap behind the suction belt tray. Some customers have forced the lift handle in the wrong direction which can break that ground wire.

The Cougar manual doesn't show this code, but from the Whale manual: "ICU gate array trouble". Just because the code isn't listed in the Cougar manual doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

I'd try the ICU PWB.

Customer made a mistake the error code was E7-03. Sorry guys. I went over and cleaned optics and lubricated rails and a coupke other minor things and no call back so far. I dont even have this manual so Im not positive if it has anything to do with optical section. But I searched the internet and some of the E7's were optical so we will see what happens. Thanks

Uh-oh. HDD trouble. Hard drive failures on cougars are very common.

So what does that mean? The customers only use it as a copier. What exactly is a hard drive error and how does it affect just copying?

As an example, when your doing a sort copy job, the HDD holds the whole copy job, then providing the page data as needed, i.e.: pg 2, 1, 4, 3, 6, 5, 8, 7, etc., then on to the next set 2, 1, 4, 3, etc.

OK.... gotcha. Well I reset the error in simulation and cleaned the optics which I thought had something to do with it but as you said, it doesn't. Customer hasn't called back but time will tell. Thank You.
