AR-BC320 lines

There are light magenta lines going from the front frame to back frame of machine on every page copied or printed in color only. No lines on black prints. Color test prints have the lines also. The lines are about a quarter inch wide and roughly every 3 inches (very uniform). All color drum units have new maintenance kits and drums installed, but didnt change the problem. We have a parts machine so we swapped the magenta drum unit from it with no change either. We swapped the transfer belt section also with no change. Replaced toner/dv units of course too with no change. Another tech I've talked to has mentioned the leds might be messed up on the magenta section, but I havent tried to swap any of that, just cleaned them.

I did look at sharp-service.com and found a tech tip about void lines, or possible color bands on prints caused by the dv drive gears. I doubt this machine has the updated gears. Theres also a tech tip about replacing the DRAM memory on the ICU pwb for random color bands.

My next step (i guess) is to replace the dv drive gears. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

oooohhh yeah..... definitely DV Drive gear has a massive crack through it.

Dont bother about the new updated part number or installing the sleeve behind the gear, as it will still crack eventually anyways. Just change the gear. Its very easy, put a flat-blade behind it and flip it off the shaft it sits on. Gear is NGERH1530FCZ4. Change the whole set of 4 if you can, as another will go soon... I assure you of that!

Dont touch the LED Units! They are a pain in the ass to re-align, and that is not the cause of your problem anyway.
Clean them of course, but dont remove them.

I heard about those leds being a pain, so that was definitely the last thing i would do. thanks wazza

Yeah,
Once you've removed the LED assy, you'll have quite a time getting the focus & skew back within tolerances.

If it's the gears, the void interval should be closer to 57.6 mm. I had a very difficult time changing these gears. My arms just don't fit. I made a tool from some copper pipe to extend my reach ~14". The first few times I would find myself a volunteer with skinny arms to reach for the gears. There aren't any sharp edges, just a few rough areas. If your arm fits, move slowly when your reaching in there. =^..^=

My arms dont fit either, so I take the fuser & transfer belt unit out, all toners and drums needed to see what I'm doing from the front, then reach up through the space where the transfer belt usually sits. Using a flat blade screwdriver, it is very easy to just flick the gear off the shaft, then reach under the same way & fit the new one.

--I'm not a genius like Blackcat, designing tools out of pipe to help me out.
