    Sharp AR-235 dumping dev

    Hello agaian,
I don't have all record's about this machine but since i know it it had this problem. It has now 190k at about 100k sombody refiled cartridge then i was called, it had all developer gone thru all copier so i put a new dev and toner. Then afther about 10k was runing low on dev again so i changed the dev unit, but the dev didn't stop spreading thru copier so i go far and replace the drum unit and drum. Afther that quiet till few week's ago when we had to change the poligonal motor, i asked here about the code, and we see again developer all over the place. I have no ideea what to do next. I looked at the 8 values and they seem to be ok. Never done a firmware update on this.

In attachement is a printed document and it's back which has dev on it.

The drum unit should have resolved this for you. The drum unit had a new primary charger, yes? That is what usually causes developer dumping on the Gazelle and Leopard series machines. It was more common on the Gazelle (AR-M208N), but in our case we had 5 Gazelles that were too small for the amout of copy volume, all in one building. Are you using OEM developer and toner? I seem to recall reading something about a problem with charge contacts on the door. Wazza, do you have any documentation on this? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I'm not 100% sure about the new charging unit but for sure i put clean one back then (i use to reuse them by washing-is that wrong?). The one that i changed these days was realy realy messy, there is smoking in the next office. Should i try to put a brand new MC and a developer?

PS. this is valuable, i got a reply from the master himself

Before you change the developer again please run simulation 25-01. What value does it stir at?
I clean and re-string the wires on those charge units, but replace at 300k copies or when it starts to dump developer.

Yes, I would replace the primary charge unit and developer, and run simulation 25-2 and 24-05. What stir value do you get? I would expect a value between 90 and 110 for new developer. =^..^=

Check the springs on the right door. I had a lot of these with the same problem. Poor contact causes the developer to be pulled out over about 10-15K copies. There was a bulletin about this issue. I would also check or replace the transfer unit. Depending on the age of the machine, make sure the right door is not warped from fuser heat.

The right door clearly it isn't closing very well and is making a bit of noise, forgot to say that ...

You guys are right. I know its an old bulletin, but it clearly says the issue is caused by the door or the electrode plate in the transfer roller unit.

Attaching a few images from the bulletin.

    Hope this helps you.

We use the 310MC main charge unit. Sharp eliminated some teeth on the ends of the saw tooth that was a cause of arcing. Good stuff here !!
    Hope that helps !

    vlad,
if you vant to see the documents more closely you can download them to your PC.

    Right-click on the document
    Save Target As
browse to where you would like to save the document
    Save

Now open the document in Windows Picture & Fax Viewer, and you can enlarge the image enough to examine every pixel.

You may have a different application to view .JPG files, but I think you get the idea. =^..^=
