Is this possible?
guys i am attending alot more network problems call outs to customers at the moment, is it possible that i can get an old Nic card from a copier and get it working at home with some type of jig maybe? the reason i ask this is because i need to get practice using the copier web interface pages, and see what all the different settings can do. its just to get familiar with it, or maybe someone can give an alternative. please excuse my stupid questions.thanks in advance
If you want to access the network interface on any of the more modern digital MFPs, all you need is a crossover cable and your laptop.
Set the IP address on your laptop to an address like:
192.168.0.10
255.255.255.0
192.168.0.1
Set the IP address on the MFP to an address like:
192.168.0.200
255.255.255.0
192.168.0.1
The last octet of the IP address does not have to be 10 or 200 or any number specifically, as long as it's between 2 and 255, and the number on the laptop must be different than the number on the MFP.
Open your browser (usually Internet Explorer) and enter 192.168.0.200 on the address line. Press Enter, then off you go...
Local printers (Parallel & USB) don't have a web interface. Some Samsung USB printers have a utility called SmartPanel that will allow some very limited diagnostics, printing reports, etc.
I don't know what you'd use that extra NIC card for. Maybe to use as a coaster to set your beer on. =^..^=

1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
