MX-3501N light prints
MX-3501N has light prints (black) even with 22-6. System settings print exposure setting is maxed to dark, DR & DV 56k. This machine has basiclly been this way from new. Customer just now seeing it as an issue. Anyone have any suggestions.

Is this affecting colors as well, or only black?
What is the values of dev stir 25-01 when its finished the cycle?
If the values are close to 128, check toner save modes are not activated, return both system settings Print & Copy density back to normal, run a full color calibration 44-06, 44-26, 46-24, 67-24.

How do the copies look if you take the machine out of auto exposure and use manual (text)?

Problem stated is printing quality, not copying.
However, if b/w printing is faint, copies will be bad as well.
Gotta fix the engine first.

Sorry, I read the post too quickly. You are right either way. Engine must be calibrated first. I remember having light cq problems right out of the gate with some of these. It was only with copying though. If you set exp. to manual copies looked much better.

If it's only on black try setting SIM 46-1 to mode 1 and recalibrate, also as Wazza said sim 25-1 when done should be at or near 128.
