thanks both for the replies. I had been re-seating the memory as per one of the earlier posts and swapped out one dimm from a different machine (also faulty), I have now since doing so, got the error:

    Call for service. Code U2-30.

I've downloaded the service manual, and it says:

    "Cause:
EEPROM is not changed when the PCU/MFPcnt
    PWB is replaced.

    Check and remedy:
    1) Check that EEPROM is properly set.
    2) Check that EEPROM on the previous PWB is
inserted to the newly installed PWB.

I have tried re-seating the EEPROM, but it has made no difference?

I hope I haven't caused any further damage!

    please help.
So... You're not a tech or you just didn't have the manual? The whole "I downloaded the manual" thing is very unnerving. Do you know what the EEPROM is? I would recommend contacting your local Sharp representative. You've done enough damage as is.

I believe that error code will require new eeproms from Sharp.
    Big oops indeed!!!!!
My former boss thought it would be wise to change a light fixture with the power on a few years back. Fell of a ten foot ladder, and landed on his head.
He can no longer remember what he had for breakfast and frequently wets himself.
Step #1 : pull the plug!!!

Well, anyone who has access to elevated sims can reprogram the EEPROM data themselves, but I wouldn't trust it to an end user who wants to play technician by downloading the service manual online.

When I closed it back up and printed again the magenta toner came back in the same places. I want to open the unit up to get a look at the primary transfer belt but am unsure of the best way to do that. Images attached.

Hi I have quite similar problem. Yours above 2 pictures are like mine. I tried copy and I have problem with Magenta too. My copies look like:
    IMG_5396.jpg

    Red lines on the top.
I put developing unit + drum unit (magenta) into other machine and there were no problem. I put deve + drum unit back and I insert another Magenta toner cartridge but my copies are still with this red line. My secondary transfer belt looks like yours.
Can anybody advise what else should I check.

    Regards

Why did you try changing the toner cartridge? These aren't inkjet machines.

It seems to me that I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the secondary transfer board. Back of copier top left.

I changed this board but it did not solve the problem. Red belt is still printed.
Does anybody has another idea please?

hello all I had this problem before.long time ago
    the solution=
where you drum slides to the guides on the rear frame there is 2-red screws.
adjust them little by little until no more magenta banding

or was it for the developer unit try one at a time
