    AR-286 info needed

    Hi all;

I just traded for a Sharp AR-286 machine. Any ideas where I can get service manual or other info on servicing it? I work for a Savin/Ricoh shop.

What's a good source of parts?

    Thanks! Jim Tanis

    AR-286 troubles

I picked up a used AR-286 over the summer, and just today got to setting it up.

After muddling through a few issues with image rotation & paper loading, I got it working alright for except....

... the copied image is slightly crooked on the copies, and the crookedness of the image is different on each copy.

I have tried the originals on the bed and in the autofeeder with the same results.

    Any ideas?

BTW, I'd also like a copy of those manuals, if possible.

    Thanks!

well first of all process of elimination. crooked copies from all the trays or just one. narrow it down by placing an original on the glass and run 1-5 copies from drifferent trays to see if you get the same result. if you do then procceed it out from the bypass to eliminate the tranfer section. go that far then let me know what happens.

    to videohockey:

Run some self prints to rule out optics. My first inclination is a copy paper skew problem either in the right door (door warped, idlers dislodged, pressure spring missing, latch broken), or the registration area (worn registration rollers, obstruction in the path, etc.).

    Disassemble to investigate.

    Thanks!

I started the diagnostic process by checking the trays and the manual feed, and sure enough tray 1 was crooked, tray 2 was perfect (both onboard the main unit), tray 3 was also perfect (right side add-on unit), and the manual feed was good, too.

Any ideas on that tray 1 issue (is that what blackcat4866 referred to) ???

    I appreciate the advice!
