    Broken Out of Box

After my third machine broken straight from the box just THIS WEEK, I am wondering if anyone else is noticing the same things from Sharp and the shippers they use? In the past year, I have had 5 frontier machines, 2 virgos, and numerous finishers and options damaged. The frontier models seem to get tipped over and snap off the anchor points for the scanner, got 4 of these. One of the virgo machine takes the cake though. It came in on a real wood skid, not those particle board or cardboard ones Sharp uses, no outer box or Styrofoam of any kind, and not even strapped down. Just sitting there on the skid like they normally ship that way. I seem to be fixing more new equipment then those in the field.

    Re: Broken Out of Box

The one that really irritated me was a Copystar CS-520 that came in a pristine box. The foam was all intact, even the outer covers of the machine! The first thing I noticed was that the left door wouldn't latch. Not a single scar on the covers, yet the scanner mounting frame was bent 25mm off the straight line. Clearly, somebody went to a lot of trouble to get that machine down the line without anyone discovering the damage. And Copystar denied all responsibility! =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

We've been seeing more damaged Sharp machines, out of the box, as well. My office, says they have seen a spike in damaged machines since New Penn has stopped being the trucking company.

In Ohio, they use a company called SAIA and is the cause of most damage.

Had an MXM232D come to us, box was intact and undamaged, styrofoam was broken and covers were demolished. The fuser flag arm they added (who knows why) was bent and wouldn't sit back in its home position correctly, giving us false jam conditions... Wasn't too thrilled with it.

We had two B402's the scanner unit broken. This occured last year. Since then we unbox every machine and inspect the same day they are rec. Haven't had one damaged yet ( knock on wood). Ours come in SAIOA also.

Kyocera also uses SAIA and they suck! We tell them to use FedEx freight for all of our LTL but we are stuck with SAIA for full truckloads.
