    MX5111N New Setup

    MX3501N@COPYLINK.NET_20120814_110356.pdf

New setup and I'm having copy quality problems. Voided areas occur at 96mm intervals and 25mm wide mostly on front side, front to rear for all colors. Machine has latest firmware, LSU shutters are straight and move easily when solenoid fires, and calibration has been done (to the best it could be under the circumstances). Have changed the primary transfer unit with no help, reseated memory and SD cards, and switched drums around to no avail.
    ??? What am I missing ???
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would be curious to see the 64-5 or 64-1 pattern 9 (full density of all four colors). We had 2 LSU units go and it did all kinds of odd things, including something similar. Pull open a door while its running and see how the image on the transfer belt looks. Have also had a few issues with fusers on this model.

As you can see, hopefully, TC 64-5 is great; TC 64-1 #9 has a problem showing only in magenta, not sure what that is in the cyan.
I'll be looking at a binding drum or dev unit later today.

All dev units and drums rotate easily by hand; print out stopped mid way and image on primary transfer is the same as the printed page.

Do you use the powder for the drum side seals as well as the normal stearic acid drum powder? It makes a huge difference.
Your black looks good, you could swap magenta for black and see if the defect follows.
When was the machine made? Does it have the retrofitted DV lids?

I am actually in Chicago for Polaris training this week so I'll take it to the experts and see what they think.

    Re: MX5111N New Setup Update

The fix was to replace all four drums. They all must have gotten over exposed, somehow, at one time or another.
The repeating void at 96mm is the circumference of the drum.
Thanks to all for your help.
