    Make sure you have "network discovery", "file and printer sharing", and you may have to "enable file sharing for devices that use 40 and 56-bit encryption" all turned on.

        Windows 7 sometimes comes with Windows Live Essentials. It can play tricks with scanning. If it is installed, remove it and try again.

                Hi redserv.

                Make sure you change the settings under advanced sharing settings > Home / Work settings, and then scroll down to change the same settings in Public. Just turn on the file sharing.

                    Are you trying to scan with Sharpdesk or straight input from the 3501? Are your input IP addresses on the same subnet? Can you browse to other network locations or is it only the copier that can't access the folder?

                    Would the client be happy with scan to email? Basically the same feature except the customer chooses the folder to store the data.

                        Is scan to email not an option? Easier to configure until Sharp can play nice with W7 security settings. You did not answer the majority of my questions.

                          lol sorry buddy, Scan to Email is not an option because the I.T. dept dont want that setup, dont think they have an SMTP mail server either.

                            Make sure all the file sharing settings are enabled on the PC, i.e. "Turn on file and printer sharing", "Turn on network discovery". You may need to set the file sharing encryption to 40/56 bit encryption for legacy devices. Check you have entered the right login details on the copier, or try setting the scan folder to one of the public folder and/or "Turn off password protected sharing".

                            When sharing the folder try both Properties -> Share, and Advanced Sharing, and make sure the permissions are set correctly.

                            Also, try disabling forcing 128-bit encryption and reducing LAN manager authentication level:

                            Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc:

                            Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options -> "Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including secure RPC) clients": disable "Require 128-bit encryption" also try changing "Network security: LAN Manager authentication level" to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated"

                              Okay, now you answered my Sharpdesk question, and you're doing internal tests so that negates the other network locations... Else, try disabling all antivirus programs on the laptop and see what happens.
