For a Gemini Plus / Aries it's:
NG80 XXXX *1
NIC connect failure (network abnormality)
• Check for disconnection of cables.
• A network trouble (CE-XX) occurs.
• The port is set to DISABLE.
• Authentication of the POP server is failed when POP before SMTP is enabled.
• When an error other than the communication result code 93 or 94 in D-SMTP send (including error
response of 5XX)
*1: For a job status result in "Display in the column of result," "NG XXXX" is displayed. " " is the code number.
For a communication result, "Communication error (XXXX)" is displayed.
(Took seconds to find in the service manual.)
This happened this afternoon after I had made some changes to the scan to folder settings in the addressbook on a 4110. worked fine with email prior. In the web page the connection test to the SMTP server completes successful. Any ideas of what I F'ed up???
P.S. I did not edit any addressbook entries Email entries. THX !

Check the domain name settings and make sure it is correct as it will not self populate sometimes. Had email issues with this series and that resolved the problem for me.
Good luck.

I've found that NG800000 code to be almost worthless in the Job History of the Sharps.
I always look at the CE-0x code that pops up on the front panel for a clue as to what the issue is when I do the scan, I wait there until it either sends the scan or errors out.
A quick list of the most common codes are as follows:
- CE-00 -- "Unknown Communication Error as Occurred" -- Sharp's version of a catch-all code.
- CE-01 -- "Network Card is Not Installed or is Broken" -- Hardware issue on the NIC
- CE-02 -- "Specified Server is Not Found" -- Copier could not connect to server.
- CE-03 -- "Server Suspends Response During Transmission" -- Server timed out while sending the scans.
- CE-04 -- "Account Name and/or Password not Valid" -- Username/Password authentication to server is invalid in the copier settings.
Hope that helps give you a direction to look...
Almost every time I have seen the ng800000 code it was caused by server issues or network problems outside the machine. That said, I have had two machines where I had to disable mDNS to fix the problem.
Thanks to all for replies!!!!!! it was a network issue.
